The Profit and Loss Statement - Basic Financials for Business #4

Basic Financials for Business (BFFB) is a four-session program designed to help small business owners strengthen their financial knowledge and make more informed business decisions. Through a practical curriculum, participants learn how to calculate labor costs, manage inventory and cost of goods, organize operational expenses, and interpret Profit & Loss statements.

This session focuses on Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, one of the most important financial tools for understanding business performance. Participants will learn how to read and interpret a P&L statement, including how revenue, expenses, and profit are represented within the report.

Understanding a P&L statement helps business owners evaluate financial health, track progress over time, and make better strategic decisions. The session will help entrepreneurs connect the financial concepts covered in previous sessions—labor, cost of goods, and operational expenses—to the bigger picture of business profitability.

By the end of the session, participants will feel more confident using financial reports to guide decisions and assess the sustainability of their business.

Participants who complete the full BFFB program will receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing their commitment to building a stronger financial foundation for their business.
