Estimating and Writing Proposals

Whether you're bidding for government contracts, responding to RFPs, or proposing custom development work, your ability to write compelling proposals and estimate costs accurately can make or break your business. This workshop, led by Rob Quinn, provides essential strategies for crafting persuasive proposals that win business while protecting your bottom line.

Geared toward early-career contractors or those seeking to sharpen their skills, this session covers the full lifecycle of proposal development. You'll learn how to read between the lines of RFPs to understand what clients really want, structure proposals that clearly communicate value, and differentiate your offering from competitors. Rob will share methods for precise cost estimation that account for hidden expenses, scope creep, and project risks.

The workshop addresses both the art and science of proposal writing, including how to tell a compelling story while meeting formal requirements, pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability, risk management techniques that protect against project overruns, and common mistakes that sink otherwise strong proposals. You'll discover how to build contingencies into your estimates without pricing yourself out, present technical information in accessible ways, and create proposals that make it easy for clients to say yes.
