Deck Building Basics Workshop

Creating effective presentations is an essential skill for professionals across industries. This practical workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to PowerPoint fundamentals and presentation design principles to help you build more polished, consistent, and impactful decks.

Led by Allison Winstel, Chief of Staff at mHUB, this hands-on session will transform your approach to deck building from the ground up. The workshop covers four key areas that form the foundation of successful presentation development:

You'll learn how to properly utilize slide masters and formatting tools to establish design consistency throughout your presentations. Through guided storyboarding exercises, you'll practice organizing your ideas into compelling narratives before building a single slide. The session includes practical instruction on slide building mechanics to create clean, clear, and effective visual content. Finally, you'll discover time-saving shortcuts and efficiency techniques that will boost your confidence and speed when working in PowerPoint.

About the Instructor

Allison Winstel, Chief of Staff, mHUB

Allison Winstel brings extensive consulting and operational experience to her role as Chief of Staff at mHUB, where she drives future growth and operational efficiency. She supports and executes on the CEO's strategic plan and related organizational priorities, leveraging her strong background in strategic planning and presentation development.

Prior to joining mHUB, Allison worked at Deloitte Consulting in Chicago, advising private and nonprofit clients on their strategic and operational goals. Her experience includes internships with nonprofit organizations in economic development and human services. At University of Michigan, she led a leadership development program for MBA students and advised student entrepreneurs at the Ross School of Business's Impact Studio.

Allison holds an MBA and MPP from University of Michigan and a bachelor's degree in public affairs and nonprofit management from Indiana University. Her combination of consulting expertise and nonprofit leadership provides valuable insights for professionals seeking to improve their presentation skills.

This annual parking-lot celebration brings together more than 1,000 innovators and tech enthusiasts for an afternoon of food, music, drinks, and family-friendly activities.
