Summer Associate, mHUB Ventures
Each summer, we hire two Summer Associates to join mHUB Ventures for an 11-12 week internship between May and August. These individuals work with our investment team, focused on early-stage hardtech companies in Smart Manufacturing, Climate & Energy, and MedTech.
As a Summer Associate (MBA), you will gain practical, hands-on exposure to the venture investment cycle - sourcing opportunities, performing in-depth evaluations, working on Fund strategy, and supporting our portfolio companies as they build the next wave of iconic, hardtech companies changing the physical world.
Description of Responsibilities
- Deal Sourcing:
- Actively identify and source potential investment opportunities by building relationships within the startup ecosystem, attending industry events, and staying informed about market trends.
- Track deal flow across our different verticals and platforms to ensure we are comprehensively managing opportunities.
- Due Diligence:
- Evaluate the viability of investment opportunities through in-depth analysis of financials, market trends, competitive landscapes, and other relevant factors.
- Work collaboratively with the investment team to conduct thorough due diligence on potential deals.
- Fund Strategy:
- Collaborate with mHUB Ventures leadership on initiatives related to fund strategy, including LP communications, capital deployment, and future fundraising efforts.
- Financial Modeling:
- Develop detailed financial models to assess the financial performance and projections of target companies.
- Analyze and interpret financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Portfolio Support:
- Actively engage with portfolio companies, providing support in areas such as strategic planning, business development, and operational improvement.
- Monitor and report on the performance of portfolio companies.
- Presentation and Reporting:
- Prepare investment memos, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Clearly communicate investment recommendations and insights to the investment team.
- Industry Research:
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and market dynamics to contribute valuable insights to the investment decision-making process.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, MBA, or advanced degree with a strong academic record.
- Prior experience or coursework in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, and/or hardtech startups is preferred.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and assess key insights.
- Ability to identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and disruptive technologies within targeted sectors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate investment ideas and recommendations.
- A demonstrated interest in early-stage investing, entrepreneurship, and hardtech innovation.
- Highly motivated, curious, and adaptable, with a willingness to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and Duration
- Stipend: $1,500 per month.
- Timeline: Minimum of 11 weeks between May 2026 and the end of August 2026 (aligned with your academic calendar), with the possibility of extension.
