Expert in Residence, Supply Chain
mHUB is recruiting an Expert in Residence (EIR) focused on supporting startups in the development of their local/regional manufacturing and supply chain. This 12-month, part-time, contract role will work closely with the Programs & Engagement team with a keen focus on manufacturing support for our community of hardtech innovators.
This person will support growing mHUB’s supplier network by activating the regional supply chain, helping member companies navigate the local manufacturing ecosystem with warm introductions, and providing mentorship on things like production roadmap, bill of materials, supplier relationship management, and scaling production.
Responsibilities
- Help mHUB create better knowledge of regional SMEs and develop a network of or relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to best support our community of innovators as they move to manufacturing at scale.
- Provide entrepreneurial coaching, support, and business counsel to mHUB’s hardtech startups members
- Support 10 to 20 companies at a time, for a total of eight to ten hours per week, in the following areas:
- Building and scaling startups’ supply chain
- Bill of materials
- Production Roadmap
- Materials selection
- Component sourcing
- Packaging design
- Manufacturer selection
- Manufacturer relationships/agreements
- Lead and facilitate workshops including the development of supporting workshop materials.
- Track and document mentor interactions, including mentor sessions notes, action items, and outcomes.
- Assist with general resource needs such as content creation and curation.
Qualifications
- 15 - 20+ years of experience in US manufacturing, preferably in the Midwest
- A strong professional network across the regional/national manufacturing supply chain and contract manufacturers)
- A background and ability to support startups as they drive toward scale and commercialization
- Demonstrated understanding of growth and commercialization challenges of a startup in the hardtech space.
- Proven relevant experience working directly with hardtech and physical product companies in an operational, advisory capacity
- Experience in the accelerator’s vertical focus area is a bonus – smart/sustainable manufacturing, medical devices, and energytech
- Ability to manage time effectively between multiple companies and operational responsibilities.

Salary and Duration
12 to 24 months - $50,000 annually
