Expert in Residence, Finance & Growth
mHUB is seeking a part-time Expert in Residence (EIR) with deep experience in finance, fundraising, and go-to-market strategy to support our early-stage hardtech startups. This 12-month, part-time contract role is ideal for a seasoned founder, operator, or investor who enjoys advising and accelerating startups through hands-on, high-impact guidance.
The EIR, in concert with mHUB’s Programs & Engagement team will help community members strengthen their financial foundations, sharpen their fundraising and growth strategies, and improve overall business readiness. The EIR will support 10 to 20 companies at a time, for a total of eight to ten hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in building business and financial models and developing key KPIs to track financial health.
- Advising on fundraising strategy including determining the right time to raise capital, funding sources, CAP-table development, etc.
- Providing feedback in the development of pitch decks, investor narratives and presentations.
- Provide guidance on go-to-market strategies.
- Advising on basic internal operations, including budgeting, cash management, and early-stage processes.
- Supporting milestone setting and accountability through regular coaching sessions.
- Collaborating with the mHUB team to identify common gaps and opportunities across the startup community.
- Lead and facilitate workshops including the development of supporting workshop materials.
- Track and document mentor interactions, including mentor session notes, action items, and outcomes.
- Assisting with general resource needs such as content creation and curation.
Qualifications
- 15-20 years of proven experience as a founder, senior operator, investor, or advisor to early-stage startups
- Strong background in finance, fundraising, and go-to-market strategy
- Familiarity with hardtech, manufacturing, or industrial startups strongly preferred
- Ability to translate complex financial and strategic concepts into actionable guidance
- Experience in the accelerator’s vertical focus area is a bonus – smart/sustainable manufacturing, medical devices, and energytech
- Ability to manage time effectively between multiple companies and operational responsibilities.

Salary and Duration
12 to 24 months - $50,000 annually
